At Motorkars, we care about our family of employees and customers. Like everyone, we are monitoring the coronavirus updates and Governor DeWine's directives throughout the day. We are continuing our daily practice of wiping down surfaces especially counters, keys, door handles, and steering wheels. So far all of our employees are in good health. Please understand that if any of them do become ill, they will be staying home to focus on getting better. This is to protect you as they will be in your car. We ask the same of you, if you are ill, please call to reschedule your appointment. If you are working from home and trying to stay healthy, don't forget about keeping your car healthy too. Spring is almost here and your car would love an oil change and inspection. If you have been putting off repairs, now is a great time to get them done. We offer a 24 hour key drop and after hours pick up if you would like to minimize contact. Give us a call today 614-297-1811! #VW #Audi #Familyowned #614life ... See more

Couple pics from Gingerman
Well, another race in the books for Motorkars Race team. This last weekend we headed to Gingerman Raceway in South Haven _ichagan for the Cookie Cutter Classic 8+7, our second ChampCar Endurance Series race of the season. Saturday the race started out great, the car and engine felt great. About 15 minutes in, the petcock on the lower radiator hose decided it was done and let go, spilling the contents of the cooling system which wet the rear tires mid turn. The car spun which caught the following Supra off guard making contact, right front corner to right front corner. The contact bent the strut and control arm, and broke the top portion of the splitter, crunched the fender, and tore the bumper (in the video below). Luckily nothing vital was damaged and after an hour in the paddock replacing the damaged components we were back on track racing again. All was going well until about 3 hours later, when we suddenly lost 3rd and 4th gears. We pulled back into the paddock to assess the damage and determined the transmission was not salvageable to continue, but we were determined. A couple quick searches and we located a good used transmission from a fellow VW enthusiast in Chicago, who was kind enough to meet us halfway (about 1 hour) with it. Transmission picked up and installed later that evening, we were back in business. Sunday’s race was a blast, the good used transmission proved to hold up to the stress. The car performed fantastically for the entire 7 hours without a hic-up to a 13th overall and 6th in class finish out of 46 and 18 respectively. As always, the good people at Champcar put on a great event and we will be back at it again in October for Pittsburgh ... See more

If you've seen an article for "Non-toxic Homemade Windshield Washer Fluid" that calls for "Liquid Castile Soap" we suggest NOT using it. The oils used to make Castile soap can coat the washer fluid sensor, causing the sensor to give a false "empty" reading, resulting in the need to replace the sensor. This problem is also prevalent when using "Rain X" brand washer fluid. We recommend washer fluids that only contain water & alcohol (and blue of course)... if you aren't sure, feel free to stop by and we'd be happy to top it off for you. ... See more

Well we are back from our first race of the season(and our first attempt at a 24h event). We managed 18 of the 24hrs before an unlucky race line mixed with cold tires sent our GTI off track and grazing the tire wall. The damage to the car was not severe but it was not repairable with what we had at our disposal. (broken oil cooler and broken radiator (which had just been replaced 2 laps prior because of a rock puncture). "That's racing" as they say. It was a little disheartening, but definitely gave us some much needed insight to some few short comings of the car... mainly just making it driver proof as the engine/trans setup is on point. Thanks ChampCar Endurance Series & Nelson Ledges Road Course for putting on a spectacular event. ... See more

This weekend we are headed to Nelson Ledges Road Course for our first 24h event. Racing starts Saturday at 10AM and doesn't stop until the checkered flag drops at 10AM on Sunday. Hopefully we can get our video stuff sorted to show some of the fun. Lights... Camera... Action ... See more
